By implementing the national intellectual property strategy and innovation-driven development strategy, Zhejiang Province has made improvement in its capability for the creation, application and management of intellectual property in recent years.

In terms of invention patent licensing quantity, invention patent quantity per ten thousand people, registered trademark quantity, etc., Zhejiang ranks the forefront in China. Meanwhile, the innovative development of science and technology is placing more demands on the guarantee role of judicial services.

According to the statistics, last year, the people's courts in Zhejiang accepted 30,371 intellectual property cases of various types, and concluded 27,526 cases. A relevant responsible person from Zhejiang Higher People's Court said that the overall case quantity in the province took on a trend of decreasing; the frequent occurrence of intellectual property crime had been effectively contained.

Now, the main focus of intellectual property protection has been extended from offline to online. In 2018, 15,625 internet-related civil intellectual property cases were newly filed, and 13,227 of them concluded by the first instance, respectively 2.6 and 2.4 times the quantity of last year. In Zhejiang, "Internet+" provides convenience and efficiency for the settlement of internet-related intellectual property disputes.

Over the past five years, Zhejiang has devoted to the construction of e-commerce online courts, and successfully constructed 3 grass-root courts and 4 test units. In 2016, the global first internet court was founded in Hangzhou. The courts in Zhejiang will continue to promote the practices for the professional hearing of internet-related cases through the internet, and improve new litigation rules consistent with the internet-related case trials. They will synchronically advance the popularization and application of micro mobile courts and make use of online courts, electronic delivery, network mediation, lawyer services, and other platforms to comprehensively improve the application scope and service level of electronic litigation.
